31. Poveglia in Italy.
Considered as the scariest island in the world, Poveglia is a small island located in the Venetian Lagoon. It was a quarantine ground for plague victims and later served as the site for a mental hospital where patients were used as subjects for inhumane experiments.
32. Cheyenne Mountain.
The Cheyenne Mountain is the place where you can find NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command. The military site was installed within the mountain to withstand nuclear blasts and any direct counter strike against the Communist Hordes.
33. Chernobyl site in USSR.
This is an exclusion zone where the Chernobyl accident took place in April 1986. A destructive steam explosion sent radioactive materials into the air and affected about 500, 000 workers and endangering the lives of many others even years later
34. Ozyorsk in Chelyabinsk Oblast.
Formerly known as Chelyabinsk-45, Ozyorsk was the site for the development of a Soviet nuclear program. This village experienced the third most serious nuclear accident ever recorded and has since remained close to the public.
35. Korean Demilitarized Zone (KDZ).
This is a 4-km highly fortified demilitarized zone that separates North and South Korea. This border barrier was created through an agreement between North Korea, China, and the United Nations in 1953. Mines are placed strategically along this strip, hence is intensely monitored by both sides.
